The Edsel pacer was like the rest of the models within the lineup; very different with bright colors and a splashy trim. This car features; dual exhaust, dual fender mirrors, power brakes, power steering, push-button radio (AM), dual rear fender antennas, 14 wheels with hubcaps and white wall tires, analog clock, rebuilt independent front suspension rebuilt brake system, new wiring harness, rebuilt dash electricals, rebuilt heater system, rebuilt fuel system, rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt 12-volt charging and starting system, resealed and repainted engine, and a refreshed engine bay. Over $53k in invoices from Vintage Iron and Restoration in Scottsdale from 2017 on file.Edsel came about to fill a void in the Ford/Mercury/Lincoln lineup. It was meant to look like nothing else on the road and it succeeded in doing so. 4 models were created under the Edsel brand, the Citation, Corsair, Pacer, and Ranger. Within those 4 models, there were 18 variations of cars to choose from. Edsel based the cars on two different chassis' with the Pacer and Ranger being based on the Ford Fairlane. One of the biggest designs showcased on the Edsel vehicles was the horse-collar grille. Though not a big hit back in the 50's in terms of style, many are after the look today. Sales didn't do as well as Ford had hoped for within the Edsel brand and the variations of models were dropped from 18 to 10 for the next year with the Pacer being dropped completely. By the time 1960 rolled around, the variations were down to 7 and the car was more easily recognized as a Ford. In 1960 Edsel abruptly stopped production on November 19th, 1959 ending the Edsel Brand. The ending brought about some rare cars for the 1958 and 1960 models. This example is one of those stunning and hard to find Edsel Pacers. For more information on this spectacular 1958 Edsel Pace or any of our 50+ classic and collectible cars always in stock, please contact our friendly and knowledgeable sales team, or always feel free to stop by our Bellevue, WA Park Place Ltd campus - Where we have over 40,000 sq ft of indoor showrooms filled with the finest cars.
